After 2 years living in Barcelona, Spain, we found ourselves in a transition. For those of you who have been through a life transition you probably know it's not fun and it makes you reevaluate EVERYTHING.
We had just decided to end our ministry in Barcelona—the ministry we thought we'd be at indefinitely. Thankfully we had some wise spiritual mentors visiting us, Trever and Joan. They run a ministry called Centro Mateo in Guadalajara, MX.
"Here's a book you might like to read," Trever said casually as he threw it on our table. The name of the book was "Stuck: Navigating through life's transition". In his nonchalant way, he was guided by God to bring us just the book we needed.
The book showed us that it was OK to be in a transition and it was OK to not know where you were going to land, however there is no escaping a God-initiated transition. The best thing to do was to slow down and reflect on the past season of life so you'll be ready for the next season.
This transition has made us both realize that we need to create a healthy foundation in our lives so when we enter into stressful environments again we can have boundary lines in the right spots.
Our baby boy Maddox was born in Barcelona (birth: one of the causes that sparks transition) and now we have a baby girl, Ivory. Life with kids as parents know is crazy. Combine that with ministry that can chew you up and spit you out, and the path quickly leads to burnout and despair.
We needed to find a sustainable way of living.
We KNOW there has to be a better way to live this life serving and loving God and man in a healthy way. We are on the pursuit—We call it the holistic pursuit.
We hope you join us as we share some life and lessons we are learning along the way. We hope you'll share your insight as well!
