Traveling in the Covid era

We got back in January of 2020 just in time for Covid to hit and we couldn’t do any travel or planning! We started to feel the itch after a year in the USA and found some countries opening up in Central and South America in 2021.

We decided to go in faith and in the face of all the fears of the moment. We traveled to Costa Rica, Panama, Peru, and Brazil. Our trip lasted 8 amazing months! I know for many Covid was a very challenging time, but it sure made for great travel conditions.

We visited Macchu Picchu and other sites and beaches with very few others! Where places are usually packed with tourists, the locals were back giving places a more authentic feel.

We visited Colca Canyon, one of the deepest canyons in the world, to see the famous Andean Condorโ€”top 10 biggest birds in the world.

We visited YWAM bases, missionaries and language exchange partners all over South America. I even built a few websites for ministries along the way!

We created some fun “Learn English with Camille” videos on Tiktok and some even went viral in Peru a few times and one made it into a news/tabloid because Camille picked Chilean Ceviche over the Sacred Peruvian oneโ€”to be fair it wasn’t her fault ๐Ÿ˜‰

Some Peruvians were quite upset and we think they were swearing at us colloquially haha.

With the new year looming, I (Calvin) have been prompted to start writing again in this next year. Our lives are very different from when we last updated you!

  • We felt to let go of any Spain moving plans for now. Perhaps God will open this door again in the future.
  • We don’t consider ourselves “full-time missionaries” but of course try to follow the promptings of the Holy Spirit and share the light! We honor those who do feel the full-time call to be missionaries and give their lives up to see His Kingdom come!
  • We will not be raising support, so we won’t be asking you for money unless it is for an amazing cause we are working with! God has helped up raise support via our businesses which is a huge blessing. Our goal is to be able to give of our time and resources wherever we are as God prompts.
  • We still love travel, culture and languages and feel God has put this passion in us for a reason. We want to continue to learn with our kids as we travel!

Welcome again! We want you to come along this journey with us as God unveils his creative and wonderful plan!

The one thing we ask of you is for your prayers!

We feel the prompting of God to build up more prayer partners for this trip. We want to see his Kingdom come in and through us as we travel. If you want to commit just comment, DM us on social media, or send us an email: cthans@gmail.com so we can know you are praying for us ๐Ÿ™‚ Thank you!

If you don’t have a connection with us anymore or are not interested in these updates, please unsubscribe via the email link or email me (cthans@gmail.com). No hard feelings! We love you and bless you!

What's coming in 2023?

We are planning another big adventure, maybe the biggest yet.

We yet again are heading on an open ended trip with our kids starting in Italy in mid January. From Italy, we plan to get to Turkey eventually.

Why these 2 countries?

We visited Italy in 2019 and what is not to love? We have language partners and YWAM friends we’d love to visit! One of Camille’s biggest audiences (with Learn English with Camille) is from Italy so we are excited to see what doors open from that!

We visited Turkey when Maddox was 1 year old! The country has always been of interest for us as well. We started studying the language for fun (or torture?) and continue to learn about this fascinating country at the crossroads of Europe and Asia. Again, Turks are a big part of Camille’s audience so we hope to connect more with this audience while in Turkey!

May God lead us!

My instagram will be a spot for quick updates/videos as we travel. Feel free to follow me:

By the way, what kind of updates do you prefer? Text and photos or video postsโ€”or a mix? Let me know in the comments so I can adjust how I update you all.

BLESSINGS!
